Back from Africa
ExperiencePosted by Mack McKelton Tuesday, September 18 2007 13:10Hi everyone. Mack Is Back! :-) OK, it is important for everyone to have seen the movie:Darwin's Nightmare! It is a documentary that everyoner really should have seen,-like Blood Dimond it is a reality check on our world, and we can make a difference. I was in that Village (Mwanza) and I saw those things with my own eyes. The first step is to create awareness to these problems. Please look at the movie before you ask me all about how my africa trip was, because that question will seem unnecessary. However I did not grieve the whole trip. It was amazing to get the opportunity to see all these things. Photos are coming up soon. Kendra was doing voluntary work for two months in the Starehe Childrens Home (Mwanza, Tanzania). I came there for a couple of days. Spent those days with the kids there, gave them my skateboards, and did some serious reflecting about how fortunate most of us are and how we forget to appreciate it. I then went to Arusha, sat in on the tribunal for the Rwandan Genocide. That was also a shock! Watch Hotel Rwanda for a quick better understanding of that if you don't know much about this crazy catastrophy that occurred there yet. Then I went on a photo Safari,-was amazing with our animal sightings. Then off to Zanzibar, (so beautiful) then Nairobi.OK, I have to stop... I need to go hold Kendra's hand while she gets her tatoo.Do good and have fun. - mack
